ZIL on Lykke Exchange
Lykke has joined the list of exchanges where one can buy Zilliqa.
On January 15th, Zilliqa (ZIL) erc20 token became tradable on Lykke Exchange in ZIL / BTC and ZIL / ETH pairs. Zilliqa had announced its plans to switch to the main net in Q4 of 2018, but the swap has been postponed. However, when the main net is ready, Lykke will support the Zilliqa token swap.
ZIL token profile - a bit about Zilliqa.
Zilliqa is one of the tokens that is highly requested by the technically-savvy part of the growing crypto community. As stated on the project’s website, their main goal is to challenge blockchain’s number one hurdle towards mass adoption - scalability. The team is composed of PhD holders in natural sciences and computer sciences, some of them are prestigious university professors.
What makes Zilliqa different is their approach to addressing the scalability issue that exists since the inception of blockchain technologies. They address it from a research-driven perspective aiming to solve a blockchain puzzle in which it’s difficult to combine the desirable multiplicity of applications with smooth functionality: will smart contracts run smoothly on a blockchain divided in shards? Zilliqa, along with Ethereum, sees sharding as a valid option to scale blockchain.
Sharding is a principle that allows to group nodes in shards, each composed of a certain number of nodes. As the number of nodes grows, more shards are created, which allows the blockchain to scale in a linear fashion as the network grows in size. The advantage of shards is that they process the incoming information simultaneously and the speed of transaction processing on a blockchain grows to thousands per second. Zilliqa has progressed remarkably with the development of sharding technology, and its testnet transaction processing speed significantly outperforms that of any other existing fully-operational blockchain.
Zilliqa is a promising project that proposes interesting from the research point of view solutions. Although it is still in a work in progress phase, if the team sticks to its milestones, such as the main net swap and delivers working products designed based on their advanced research, Zilliqa has the potential to become one of the base blockchains to run numerous Dapps and smart contracts.
